Each year, the office of Congressman Joe Neguse presents residents of Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District with service awards honoring outstanding members of the community for their commitment to the betterment of our state. The eight awards include the Josie Heath Community Service Award, the Building Bridges Award, Volunteer of the Year, First Responder of the Year, Educator of the Year, the Beattie Congressional Award for Distinguished Environmental Scholarship, the Rupert High School Service Award, and the Tanner Congressional Award for Outstanding Community Service.

The First Responder of the Year Congressional Service Award is presented to a first responder in the district who demonstrates an overwhelming dedication to their profession and their community.

On Friday, December 15, 2023, the Colorado's Second District First Responder of the Year Award was presented to Patti Herrington.   Patti is a responder, EMT, firefighter, and the Administrative Captain at the Livermore Fire Protection District.   Captain Herrington greatly deserves recognition for her dedication, selflessness, and the heroic, lifesaving work she does for Livermore each and every day.
